About the role

ABS Group is looking for a Senior Communications Lead to plan, execute, and develop structured communications, support the design and creation of compelling story-telling content and products, and lead the development of communications tools and strategies across multiple product lines to grow client communications capabilities, brand, and communications effectiveness.

What You Will Do: 

In this role, you’ll lead this workstream in collaboration/partnership with the Senior Project Manager, Senior data governance professionals, our federal clients, and other project teammates to:  

  • Develop, lead, and execute comprehensive communication plans across multiple lines of effort, in alignment with the client’s mission and objectives
  • Collaborate with the client to develop communication objectives and new communication artifacts
  • Collaborate with the client to develop branding guidance and expand scope of communication activities
  • Create storyboards and story-telling mock-ups, visuals, website content, graphics/infographics, and supporting prose
  • Lead review, refresh, and updates to the communications plans and strategy, as well as supporting design and execution of stakeholder engagement planning
  • Create data governance leadership briefings and related presentations for senior management and stakeholders
  • Lead development of KPI and communications metrics design and capture across multiple lines of effort
  • Lead development and maintenance of communications artifact library and stakeholder engagement tracking efforts
  • Lead development of communications workstream management and tracking
  • Develop or support development of assistive materials and simple, effective job aids, or guides
  • Assist with content development/editing/QA needs in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Adobe, and other basic software applications commonly used by government
  • Apply and adhere to style, branding, and other guidance consistently

This position is expected to be fully remote and will report to and collaborate closely with client and engagement PM. 

What You Will Need:

Required:  

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DHS suitability (public trust)
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional, relevant experience and a Bachelors degree
  • Knowledge of or significant interest in serving federal government and homeland security or emergency management
  • Skill in quickly soliciting, researching, and gathering information about new, complex topic from clients and colleagues—with an ability to brief, summarize, and visualize information clearly
  • Willingness and ability to:  
    * Adjust and tailor communications and training based on the various client audience-levels (executive, management, and general workforce) 
    * Communicate effectively and provide recommendations to senior and mid-level clients
    * Craft compelling messages for different audiences via different communications channels and forums
    * Assemble resources to execute and lead in the face of ambiguity 
    * Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including mid-level and executive leadership 
    * Excellent writing and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Solid team collaboration and client relationship building skills
  • Embody and help build a “one team”, no-job-too-big-or-small culture
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex issues
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and aptly facilitate virtual or other working sessions with clients and stakeholders directly and with the team/clients
  • Ability to stay motivated and engaged with the team in a remote/virtual environment
  • Maintain East Coast hours primarily to coincide with federal clients hours
  • Microsoft Teams or Zoom experience for virtual collaboration and meetings

Desired: 

  • Masters degree in a relevant field
  • Technical writing experience and interest to support cross-team efforts
  • Experience in developing materials for online and interactive mediums
  • Experience in federal government settings to facilitate quick acclimation to the project environment
  • Interest in learning data governance and applying that knowledge while engaging/communicating to and with new stakeholders and enhancing relationships with existing stakeholders
  • Willingness to take on supervisory functions over time; not a supervisory position immediately
