Salary Grade: T24
Salary Range: $40,000 - $50,000

Position Summary:
He/she will perform experimental procedures in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Selzer relating to an NIH-funded project to use fetal brain-derived exosomes to identify molecular markers that can predict whether an at-risk fetus will be born with a fetal alcohol spectrum disorder. He/she will work under the direct supervision of Dr. Nune Darbinian.
Required Education and Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Biostatistics or related field.
Required Skills and Abilities:
* Proficiency in basic wet laboratory procedures and equipment use
* Proficient writing skills
* Ability to use excel spreadsheets to archive data for analyses
Essential Duties:
* She/He will perform all the biochemical and molecular assays, maintain inventories, order supplies, and generally participate in the organization of the laboratory.
* She/he will be responsible for the preparation of exosomal protein samples from serum, from 150 EtOH-used subjects and 75 controls.
* She/he will assist Dr. Darbinian in studies related to the isolation of exosomal mRNA from fetal brain-derived cell type-specific exosomes from maternal blood from EtOH-exposed subjects and characterization of fetal neural, OL-, microglial, astrocytic-exosomes, by performing pathway-specific arrays.
* She/he will perform cytokine/chemokine studies for this project.
* Collaboration with research team members (CRC, clinicians, PI, assistant professor, biostatistician, and student workers) to plan wet-lab tasks, support patient recruitment and follow-ups, and integrate labora
