Reports to: Vice President of Student Affairs

Position Summary:

Lane College seeks a visionary, trauma-informed, and student-centered professional to lead its Counseling and Disability Support Services in a comprehensive manner. The Director will provide clinical services, program oversight, staff supervision, and strategic direction for both mental health and disability support services, ensuring these resources are accessible, equitable, and aligned with Lane College’s mission to holistically support student wellness, academic persistence, and success.

This leader will guide the development of a resilient, inclusive, and accessible college environment while coordinating proactive mental health education, timely interventions, peer support initiatives, and compliance with disability legislation.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Counseling Services:

  • Provide clinical oversight and deliver short-term individual, group, and crisis counseling to students.
  • Develop and lead psychoeducational workshops on mental health, coping strategies, stress management, suicide prevention, and interpersonal development.
  • Serve as the college's lead crisis responder for student mental health emergencies, collaborating with campus police, residence life, and external agencies as needed.
  • Supervise any part-time or peer counselors, interns, or volunteers within the office.

 

Disability Support Services:

  • Oversee intake, documentation review, and implementation of accommodations under ADA/504 regulations.
  • Serve as ADA/Section 504 Coordinator for students and ensure compliance with relevant disability law.
  • Collaborate with faculty and academic support staff to create inclusive learning environments and improve accessibility in instructional delivery.

 

Program and Strategy Development:

  • Align services with the Lane College Student Resilience and Thriving Support Systems (SRTSS) initiative.
  • Develop measurable goals, assessments, and reports to track the impact of counseling and disability support on student success and retention.
  • Manage budgets, service contracts, and external partnerships that enhance student wellness and accessibility.
  • Coordinate peer mental health educator training and a counseling volunteer program to expand outreach.
