Core Functions:
- Maintain communication with administration, faculty, students, and the community regarding developing and implementing university program policies.
- Participate in regularly scheduled MOT program meetings and other University events.
- Responsible for the MOT program’s curriculum design, student instruction, evaluation and progression, clinical education, student admissions, and advisement.
- Preparation of class materials and teaching of classes as scheduled.
- Initiate, adopt, evaluate, and uphold the University and MOT program’s mission, goals, and assessment of program outcomes.
- Advancement of the academic activities and policies of the MOT program and university on the opportunity for students and peers to evaluate teaching effectiveness.
- Evaluation and recommendation of faculty for promotion.
- Serve on MOT program and University committees appropriate to their rank and experience.
- Provision of time for academic advisement and guidance of students.
- Participate in professional and community activities to bring education, service, and research together to improve healthcare delivery.
- Accept opportunities for membership on standing and ad-hoc committees of the MOT program and UniversitUniversityed or appointed.
Background/Expertise:
- Master’s Degree (doctDegreeegree prefeDegreeMinimum of 3 years of clinical teaching and clinical coordination experience (preferred).
- Ability to meet faculty requirements as stated in the current Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education Standards.
- Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues that affect contemporary occupational therapy education, students, and the profession of occupational therapy.
- Current knowledge and skill in evidence-based practice and teaching skills.
- Knowledge of educational, management, and adult learning theory and principles with hybrid (online & face to face) instructional delivery.
- Active in clinical practice (preferred).
- Active in local, state, and national professional activities (preferred).
- Prior teaching experiences in an occupational therapy academic program and administrative experience in educational governance and clinical practice (preferred).
- Design and conduct independent and collaborative research (preferred).
- Able to work with students, faculty/staff with special needs based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Ability to participate in all aspects of peer review and shared governance.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and advisory skills (preferred).
- Ability to initiate, administer, assess, and document areas related to occupational therapy education programs (preferred).
- Ability to work independently and coordinate with colleagues and peers (preferred).
- Ability to travel to campus a minimum of one week per semester (3-4 times per year).
