Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Laboratory Assistant III will carry out operational level work in the research laboratory of the Principal Investigator under supervision. Duties include, but are not limited to: preparation of standardized media, reagents and solutions from already established formulas, set up simple apparatus for laboratory experiments, keep simple files and record of laboratory material and help in placing orders.  
Please note that this is a part-time, 10 month limited position and may convert to career. 

Salary Range: $25.39 - $30.22/Hourly    

Job Qualifications

Required:

• Experience in collection, classification and filing of scientific material and having appropriate scientific knowledge.
• Experience in preparation of charts, graphs and/or models involving experimental data.
• Ability to dissect, assemble, and mount skeletal and other body parts.
• Ability to perform surgical procedures on animals without supervision.
• Ability to work well with others and give commands.

 

Preferred:

• Ability to modify media solutions.
• Ability to perform micro-technique procedures including knowledge of staining, and the ability to distinguish between treated and untreated tissue.
