AVP, Payment Services Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategies for optimizing payment processes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry best practices.
• Analyze market trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in payment services.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to payment processing efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
• Prepares annual budget projections for the department, operates within its guidelines and monitors departmental performance in order to operate within SCCU financial objectives.
• Implement and maintain robust fraud prevention and risk management measures to safeguard payment systems and data.
• Build and lead a high-performing payment services team, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the payment services department. 
• Collaborate with Loss Prevention, Legal and Enterprise Risk Management teams to mitigate risks related to payments, fraud, data privacy, and cybersecurity.
• Works as a liaison to provide training and knowledge to the entire credit union as a payments subject matter expert.
• Prepares all necessary reports for Board, management, staff, and officials.
• Manage relationships with payment processors, banks, credit unions, fintech partners, and other stakeholders to optimize payment service offerings and negotiate favorable terms.
• Assists the Loss Prevention Department with documentation for legal activity in criminal cases.

AVP, Payment Services Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) is preferred.
• 5-8 years prior experience in a financial institution required with specific experience in payment systems, protocols, and regulations, with a track record of implementing best practices in payment processing.
