Overview
The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology at Children’s Mercy is one of the largest in the U.S. We are nationally recognized for providing excellent care for children with intestinal, liver, esophageal and nutritional disorders. Our experienced gastroenterology (GI) team collaborates across departments and incorporates the latest research to give every child the best possible care experience. Children and teens with GI conditions benefit from our comprehensive, child-centered care. We look at all the possible contributing factors to their disorder to find the best course of treatment. Registered nurses provide illness management and health promotion for patients and families who require hospital care. Responsibilities
- Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a safe, high quality, comprehensive, and age-appropriate plan of care for the patient and family that promotes optimal patient outcomes.
- Meets the educational needs of the patient and family and advocates for their needs.
- Maintains an environment that is safe, comfortable, efficient, and family-centered.
- Utilizes current research and evidence for practice to expand personal professional knowledge, enhance role performance, and improve nursing care quality.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree
- Current employees hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role.
- Direct care nurses hired after September 1, 2013 without a BSN, must complete their degree within 5 years of their hire date
- Bachelor's Degree
- Preferred for all direct care nurses hired after September 1, 2013.
- One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
- One of the following: Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Miss
