Job Summary The Senior Process Optimization Engineer is responsible for analyzing, developing, and implementing strategies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of various processes within the Quality & Test organization. This role requires a deep understanding of the process layers, collection & analysis of data, and project management to relentlessly drive continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement, reduce waste, and enhance overall operational performance.
Essential Job Functions and Performance Standards
Process Analysis and Improvement: Analyze existing processes within Quality and Test to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement. Develop and implement process improvement strategies aimed at reducing waste, cycle time, and defects. Conduct time studies, workflow analysis, and root cause analysis to identify key issues. Streamline production functions by developing fixtures to simplify and reduce reliance on complex measurement equipment Project Management: Lead and manage process improvement projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and achievement of project goals. Develop project plans, including timelines, resources, and budgets. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and successful project execution. Support the definition of test procedures, methods, processes and tools, ensuring they integrate seamlessly with production quality & test initiatives Ensure the execution of the test and validation activities within the agreed deadlines Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect, analyze, and interpret data to evaluate the effectiveness of process improvement initiatives. Prepare detailed reports and presentations on process performance and improvement outcomes. Utilize statistical tools and software to monitor process metrics and identify trends and drive data-informed decisions. Check test results against quality expectations and customer requirements. Continuous Improvement Culture: Support component design continuous improvement efforts with a focus on mass production efficiency and quality. Promote a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging innovation, feedback, and collaboration. Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in process & quality improvement techniques. Support Component and Vehicle Validation Activities Perform calculations to verify critical parameters for testing Support development of test programs and routines against a given test procedure. Design test rigs, fixtures and support manufacturing process to enhance production flow.
Basic Qualifications
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field. Several years of experience in testing or engineering related areas, with a track record of increasing responsibility. Proven track record of leading and implementing process improvement projects. Technical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient in structural testing methodologies, equipment, and software. Strong understanding of automotive or aerospace industry standards. Ability to analyze complex data and draw accurate conclusions. Experience with CAD software with the ability to design fixtures and hardware. Leadership and Communication: Excellent leadership and team management skills.
