Under supervision of the National Center for START Services® Associate Director of Training, the NCSS Adjunct CTG Facilitator supports the training and professional development of START Coordinators nationwide by facilitating CTG cohorts, collaborating with NCSS training staff, and reviewing Coordinator presentations. The role includes live virtual facilitation, preparation and follow-up, participation in facilitator meetings, and timely documentation and feedback aligned with certification standards. The adjunct CTG facilitator must be an experienced, certified START Coordinator with strong virtual facilitation skills, a deep understanding of the START model, and a commitment to NCSS training quality, collaboration, and professionalism.
Duties/Responsibilities
CTG Facilitation & Instruction (70%)
Facilitate two (2) full CTG cohorts annually (live sessions plus preparation and follow-up).
In the first year, co-facilitate one (1) cohort with an experienced facilitator to ensure alignment with NCSS expectations.
Support participant engagement and learning throughout the 15-week cohort structure.
Collaboration, Review & Feedback (15%)
Attend at least 50% of monthly CTG facilitator meetings.
Participate in collaborative planning, intersession, and debrief meetings.
Review Coordinator Presentations during final CTG sessions and provide structured feedback.
Professional Standards, Communication & Continuous Learning (15%)
Maintain current knowledge of START Coordinator Certification requirements and NCSS updates.
Remain informed of revisions to START tools, manuals, and guidance.
Communicate promptly with NCSS leadership regarding participant needs, facilitation concerns, or emerging issues.
Requirements
Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:
Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or another human service-related academic discipline
Bachelor’s with 5 years in the field of social work, psychology, or another human service
Required Licenses & Certifications:
Active START Coordinator Certification and either:
be in good standing with their START program or
have served on a START program within the past two (2) years
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and core virtual training technologies (e.g., Zoom features, Canvas learning platform)
In-depth knowledge of the START model, including its guiding principles, practices, tools, and fidelity expectations
Knowledge of NCSS certification, evaluation, and documentation standards
Demonstrated experience delivering virtual training using strong multi-modal facilitation skills aligned with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and adult learning principles
Skill in facilitating groups and managing complex group dynamics in virtual learning environments
Ability to provide constructive, competency-based feedback and evaluation to adult learners
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong relationship-building skills and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse constituencies
High degree of self-motivation, initiative, and professional accountability in an adjunct role
Excellent organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to manage time-bound deliverables across fixed cohort schedules
Ability to maintain START model fidelity while responsively adapting facilitation to learner needs
Sound judgment and ability to identify, address, and appropriately escalate concerns in a timely manner
Understanding of and commitment to strengths-based, trauma-informed, and person-centered facilitation approaches
Commitment to upholding NCSS training standards, professionalism, and collaborative learning environments
