The Adjunct Faculty member serves in a multifaceted capacity within the Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Biomedical Sciences (MCBS) at the University of New Hampshire. This position encompasses three primary areas of responsibility: (1) leadership and administration of the NIH-funded Center of Integrated Biomedical and Bioengineering Research grant; (2) limited programmatic and administrative support for the Molecular and Cellular Biotechnology (MCBT) M.S. program and/or other duties as assigned by the MCBS Department Chair; and (3) the conduct of ongoing NIH-funded research. This appointment is designed to leverage the incumbent's specialized research expertise and administrative capabilities in support of the department's and university’s research and educational missions.
Duties/Responsibilities
CIBBR Grant Administration and Principal Investigator Duties
The Adjunct Faculty member serves as the Principal Investigator (PI) for the Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (CIBBR) grant and assumes overall responsibility for the programmatic, fiscal, and administrative success of the award. Specific duties include:
Serve as the Principal Investigator (PI) for CIBBR, assuming full accountability for the scientific, administrative, and financial stewardship of the grant in compliance with sponsoring agency requirements and UNH policies.
Provide overall administration of the CIBBR grant, including reporting, budget oversight, compliance monitoring, and coordination with co-investigators, collaborators, and institutional offices.
Serve as Lead for all Administrative Core activities, which encompass but are not limited to:
Overseeing and managing the Mentoring Program, including the recruitment, matching, and evaluation of mentors and mentees.
Conducting and coordinating programmatic evaluations to assess the effectiveness and impact of CIBBR activities and objectives.
Administering the Pilot Projects Program, including solicitation, review, selection, and monitoring of pilot project awardees.
Supervise the Program Manager assigned to CIBBR, providing direction, performance oversight, and support to ensure effective grant operations and administrative functions.
Liaise with the National Institutes of Health (NIH), IDeA program officers, and other relevant federal and institutional stakeholders as required.
Program and Departmental Support
The Adjunct Faculty member will provide limited, ongoing support for academic program operations and departmental functions as directed. Specific duties include:
Provide limited, ongoing support for the operations and administration of the Molecular and Cellular Biotechnology (MCBT) M.S. program, which may include advising, curriculum input, and coordination with program faculty and staff as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by the MCBS Department Chair, consistent with the scope, classification, and terms of the adjunct faculty appointment.
Grant-Funded Research
The Adjunct Faculty member will maintain an active, productive research program consistent with the objectives of funded grants and departmental research priorities. Specific duties include:
Conduct ongoing grant-funded research supported by an active award from the National Eye Institute of NIH.
Contribute to the scholarly output of the research program through publications, presentations, and other dissemination activities.
Mentor personnel engaged in funded research activities.
Requirements
Terminal degree (Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent) in a biomedical, biological, or closely related scientific discipline.
Demonstrated experience in biomedical research with a record of peer-reviewed publications.
Prior experience as a Principal Investigator or co-investigator on federally funded research grants.
Demonstrated experience in grant administration, including compliance, reporting, and budget management.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills sufficient to lead administrative programs and supervise staff.
Compensation Pay Range:
$40-60k. Pay range based on current salary as full time faculty member,
