Manufacturing Engineer III- Maintenance/Reliability

Maintenance and Reliability Engineer III is an experienced engineering position specialized in maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of our manufacturing equipment. This engineer will directly contribute to the cost reduction and quality of CooperSurgical’s manufacturing processes via the optimization of the maintenance program, management of the CMMS, oversight of maintenance technicians, and development of spare parts packages. This role is expected to have strong partnerships with the production, quality, product engineering, and regulatory departments. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, leadership abilities, and a commitment to safety, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Lead team of 8 maintenance technicians, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Prioritize work orders and ensure timely completion of maintenance activities.
- Provide technical guidance and hands-on support as needed, troubleshooting complex equipment issues.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
- Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to improve equipment performance and address recurring failures.
- Develop and implement maintenance procedures, work instructions, and standard operating practices.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) investigations and corrective action plans to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Manage spare parts inventory and procurement to ensure critical components are available when needed.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.
- Support capital projects, equipment installations, and upgrades by coordinating resources and ensuring smooth implementation.
- Utilize data analysis and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) tools to track maintenance KPIs and identify trends.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including maintenance logs, schematics, and technical manuals.

Travel:
- Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings, conferences, or visit manufacturing sites. Approximately 10-20% travel is expected.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering OR equivalent technical experience in maintenance engineering.
- Experience: 5+ years in industrial equipment maintenance, 2+ years of leadership of maintenance technicians
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical troubleshooting, PLCs, automation, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with CMMS software, maintenance scheduling, and data analysis tools.
- Certifications (Preferred): Lean Six Sigma, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), or relevant industry certifications.
- Language Skills (Preferred): Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated experience with project management
- Strong computer skills with the ability to use Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio. Advanced skills preferred.
- Knowledge of CAD software and ability to read blueprints
- Thorough understanding of quality and regulatory requirements, such as ISO 13485, FDA QSR, EU MDR and GMP.
Work Environment:
- Occasional lifting of up to 35 kilograms may be required.
- Prolonged sitting in front of a computer is common.
- Prolonged standing on the manufacturing floor is common.
