About the role

HPU Health- Oral Health Network is a non-for-profit dental network that provides primary and surgical/specialty care, part of the High Point University Workman School of Dental Medicine (WSDM).

The Director of HPU Health- Winston Salem HUB, is a full-time, 12-month, administrative staff appointment. This role is instrumental in strategizing, managing, and leading processes and workflows for a de-novo multi-specialty surgical and specialty care facility located in Winston Salem, with an expected launch for September 2025.

This position works closely with the Chief Dental Officer (CDO) and Executive Leadership Team (ELT), to operate and deliver health care services, to attain high-quality outcomes consistent with organizational standards. Efforts of this role are focused on ensuring efficient operations, financial stewardship, sustainability, regulatory compliance, standards of accreditation, expansive development. The Director of Surgical and Specialty Care- HPU Health- Winston Salem will play an integral role in facility development, on-boarding, credentialing, compliance and regulatory requirements for the HPU Health- Winston Salem site.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • Preferred- Master’s Degree in Health Sciences or related field
  • Preferred- Master’s Degree in Business/Healthcare Administration

Experience and Training

  • 5 years of experience in a multi-specialty group practice setting required
  • Significant knowledge of standards, regulations, and policies in health care
  • Previous work in a health care facility or clinical setting preferred
  • Strong knowledge of health data, analytics, and business management are preferred Experience collaborating with vendors, institutions, and health entities are preferred
  • Knowledge of dentistry and dental practice management is preferable, but not required.
  • Epic (electronic medical record) experience is preferable.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The candidate selected for this position will perform all duties directed by the Chief Dental Officer, with input from the leadership team. The candidate will be expected to perform the following duties, including but not limited to:

1. Recruitment and Training:

Development of a recruitment matrix timeline. Responsible for recruitment and training of staff personnel hired, in collaboration with HPU human resources, WSDM compliance and credentialing.

2. Operations Management:

Provides operational oversight and management of assigned practice sites including procedural operations, fiscal stewardship, effective communication, and process improvement initiatives. Identifies, secures, and manages resources to enhance productivity and remove barriers to efficient workflows and patient access to care. Implements strategies to increase revenue/decrease costs and cost-effectively manage personnel, supply, and equipment resources across practice sites. Responsible for collecting, evaluating, and presenting operational data and performance analytics to the CDO and ELT.

3. Quality and Service:

Ensures contractual, regulatory, and accreditation compliance of all assigned practice sites. Initiates, implements and monitors evidence-based practices consonant with organizations such as Joint Commission (TJC), Division of Health Services Regulation (DHSR), Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Conducts, communicates, and documents regularly recurring meetings at practice sites with pertinent information such as policy and procedure changes.

4. Strategic Leadership:

Develops, plans and implements strategies to manage growth and ensure institutional sustainability. Regularly reviews and recommends changes in operations to meet patient needs with particular emphasis on services for underserved populations. Exceeds organizational goals and resolves issues by troubleshoot, root cause analysis, and follow- up. Fosters a culture of patient-centered services with exceptional standards of care.<
