The Regional Credit Officer is responsible for the independent assessment and oversight of credit risk within the Bank’s loan portfolio, ensuring the quality and soundness of credit decisions across all lines of business. This individual serves as a senior credit authority within the Credit Department and provides risk oversight, guidance, and support to regional lending teams. The role contributes to maintaining a strong risk culture, ensuring credit decisions are consistent with the Bank’s policies, regulatory expectations, and strategic objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Collaborate with lending teams to assist with underwriting and structuring of new and renewed loan requests.
2. Review and approve credit applications within Board-delegated authority; escalate recommendations for larger or complex transactions.
3. Provide day-to-day guidance on credit-related matters, including exception approvals and loan documentation questions.
4. Monitor credit quality across assigned regions; identify problem loans and recommend actions related to non-accruals, charge-offs, or risk ratings.
5. Engage with senior lending officers and the Senior Credit Officers to discuss high-risk credits and evolving portfolio concerns.
6. Conduct periodic loan reviews to ensure appropriate credit and collateral documentation, policy compliance, and regulatory adherence.
7. Evaluate trends in technical exceptions and deficiencies; maintain reporting for internal monitoring and Board review.
8. Recommend enhancements to credit policy and procedures based on risk trends, regulatory feedback, or internal loan reviews.
9. Prepare periodic reports on portfolio quality, including past due analysis, concentrations, and stress testing results. Assist with periodic Board reports.
10. Compliance with any and all BSA/AML/CFT and Sanctions requirements set forth by Bank Policy and Procedure, including but not limited to timely completion of assigned training.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
The position may be responsible for the supervision of all office employees and is expected to provide leadership, training and support to staff members.
ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
The incumbent is in a non-confined office setting in which they are free to move about at will. In the course of performing the duties and responsibilities of this position spends time writing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 25 pounds), sitting, typing on a computer keyboard, and standing, kneeling and reaching.
The incumbent for this position may operate any or all of the following: telephone, copy and fax machine, adding machine, computer and related printers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
These specifications are guidelines based on the minimum experience required to perform the essential functions of the job. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related field required; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CRC, CFA, CPA) preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in commercial banking or credit risk management, with a strong understanding of credit underwriting, regulatory compliance, and loan policy governance.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex credit structures and recommend appropriate risk mitigants.
• Proven experience collaborating with relationship teams and influencing credit outcomes without direct authority.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Knowledge of regulatory expectations and industry best practices in commercial credit risk.
