The University of Miami is home to nearly 16,000 undergraduate and graduate students from every state in the nation and 140 nations around the world. The Department of Housing and Residential Life is home to an extensive and diverse residential program featuring six residential communities. The cornerstone of the residential program is a system of five residential colleges that blend the Oxford and Cambridge tradition of live-in faculty with the American commitment to student development and academic success. Residential Colleges range in size from 400 – 850 students. The University also offers University Village, an apartment area housing approximately 800 upper-class students and our newly opened Lakeside Village offering suite/apartment style living that houses approximately 1100 sophomore and above students. General Description (Purpose and Function):

This temp position will support the day-to-day assessment initiatives for Residential Life. Position reports to the Associate Director of Residential Life The position will be through December 15, 2025.
 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement streamlined, user-friendly assessment processes

a. Automate recurring tasks where possible and create step-by-step “quick start” guides to simplify manual processes.

2. Design an accessible framework for graduate students with limited assessment experience

a. Build intuitive templates, training resources, and documentation so that one-year graduate assistants can seamlessly contribute to assessment efforts.

3. Successfully onboard and train the incoming Graduate Assistant on assessment initiatives

a. Provide structured orientation, mentoring, and clear documentation to ensure they can independently manage assigned projects.

4. Produce a comprehensive KPI (Key Performance Indicators) report for the Director of Residential Life

a. Consolidate key metrics into a clear, actionable report that informs strategic decision-making.

5. Oversee and coordinate all departmental assessment efforts during the interim period

a. Ensure continuity, accuracy, and timely completion of ongoing and upcoming assessment projects.

6. Build a sustainable long-term Benchworks data warehouse

a. Organize historical and current survey data in a centralized, easily accessible repository for future benchmarking and analysis.

7. Establish standardized guidelines for disaggregating survey data

a. Create clear protocols for analyzing data by demographics, area, or other relevant factors to support equity-focused insights.

nowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

· Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

· Solid skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel – PowerPoint)

· Skill in interpreting and applying departmental policies and procedures

· Ability to enter and verify information with accuracy at a reasonable rate of speed

· Ability to utilize computerized information systems

· Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions

· Skill in data entry or typing

· Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships

Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):

· High school diploma required; AA preferred

Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):

· Two (2) to Three (3) years of work experience
