Security Officer- Swing Shift Lead

This position is responsible for ensuring the safety of guests, team members, property and assets under the care of Harrah’s company.  In addition to performing all duties required of a Security Officer I and II, will also be given the responsibility of performing the duties of Security Shift Manager as assigned.

 

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Conducts investigations, interviews, interrogations and completes written reports property wide in a multitude of areas.
• Evaluates and brings to resolution incidents involving subjects who are being 86’d, prior 86’s or who may have committed crimes on property.
• Supervises incidents occurring on the casino floor or in the hotel when Shift Manager or Hotel Officers are unable to respond.
• Responsible for the development and implementation of the on-going training program of new hires.
• Assists the Shift Manager in coordinating efforts during emergency situations that could include evacuations; bomb threats, fire, flood, haz mats or any other catastrophe occurring on the premises.
• Performs all essential functions of a Security Officer I and II.
• As designated by the Security Shift Manager, will temporarily assume responsibility for running Security shift.

 

• Assists guests by giving directions and answering questions in a friendly and courteous manner.
• Investigates all accidents on Harrah’s/Harveys premises.      
• Assists injured guests and applies first aid and/or CPR as necessary until professional help arrives.
• Checks identification of guest to ensure that only those 21 years of age and older are allowed in gaming areas.
• Patrols the parking lot and garage by car or van.

Monitors and observes the casino, parking lot and garage for disturbances, crimes, fire hazards and undesirable persons and reports these issues to Security supervision.

• Escorts employees with monies.
• Completes written reports as assigned.
• Controls and directs traffic as needed.
• Ensures the delivery of great customer service 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred
• Two or more years in law enforcement or security field preferred
• One year investigative experience preferred
• Minimum one year experience within Harrah’s/Harveys Tahoe Security Department as an Officer II / F.T.O. and/or prior Harrah’s supervisory experience

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proven ability to maintain confidentiality of the material being handled
• Literacy and fluency in English
• Must have a valid Drivers’ License and clean driving record
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Must possess all abilities and qualifications expected of a Security Officer I & II
• Excellent report writing skills and computer literacy
• Excellent investigative skills
• Skilled in defensive tactics
• Knowledgeable of laws common to the Hotel/Casino industry
• Possess the ability to make logical, objective decisions
• Knowledgeable of detainment and arrest procedures
• Ability to obtain a license from the Nevada Gaming Control Board
• Ability to uphold and demonstrate the highest level of integrity in all situations and recognize standards required by a regulated business
• Acts as a role model to all Team Members and always presents oneself as a credit to Caesars Entertainment and encourages others to do the same. 
• Adheres to all regulatory, company and department policies and procedures

 

PHYSICAL, MENTAL and ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

• Auditory and visual fields must include immediate environment
• Ability to move quickly in response to emergency situations
• Ability to deal with violent situations by verbally defusing them or by physically restraining a violent person
• Ability to rapidly climb 18 flights of stairs to provide assistance during an emergency
• Must be able to bend, lift up to 45 lbs. and to carry the weight up to 20 feet
• Must be able to walk/stand up to 8 hours per day

 

Positions that have contact with the public require the ability to work in a noisy 
environment, and may be exposed to guests who use tobacco products.  Also, non-public contact positions may be required to enter public areas from time to time, in connection with their duties, and may be subject to the same environment.
