Pharmacy Cashier - FT

Position Summary:

The Pharmacy Cashier is the first point of contact for pharmacy customers and plays a key role in creating a positive customer experience. This position is responsible for accurately processing transactions, handling customer inquiries, maintaining front-of-pharmacy cleanliness, and supporting pharmacy staff with general non-clinical tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet customers promptly and courteously upon arrival at the pharmacy counter.
• Accurately process prescription and over-the-counter purchases using the POS system.
• Handle cash, credit, and other forms of payment in accordance with company policies.
• Assist customers with general questions and direct more specific inquiries to the pharmacist or pharmacy technician.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy front-end, including displays, shelves, and registers.
• Restock bags, receipt paper, promotional materials, and over-the-counter products as needed.
• Monitor and report out-of-stock items or customer complaints to the appropriate team member.
• Respect and protect patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Comply with all company, state, and federal guidelines, including age-verification for restricted products.
• Support pharmacy staff with clerical tasks such as filing, shredding, or stocking OTC items (non-drug-related duties only).

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Prior cashier, retail, or customer service experience strongly preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
• Basic math and computer skills
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs as needed
• Must be dependable and punctual

Work Environment:

• Retail pharmacy environment with interaction with the public
• May involve evening, weekend, and holiday shifts based on business needs
