The Role
As an Agentic AI Data Engineer at Kyndryl, you’ll design and implement scalable, high-performance data platforms and pipelines that power enterprise AI and analytics capabilities. This role combines deep technical expertise with hands-on development, enabling seamless data flow for Agentic AI frameworks and next-generation automation.
You’ll work in a true builder’s environment, collaborating with architects, software engineers, and data scientists to deliver robust, governed, and actionable data solutions. Expect rapid innovation cycles, autonomy, and the opportunity to shape data infrastructure for cutting-edge AI systems.
What You’ll Do
- Design and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines and data models for structured and unstructured data.
- Build scalable architectures supporting batch and real-time processing across cloud and on-prem environments.
- Implement data quality frameworks, governance policies, and validation rules.
- Develop API endpoints and integrations for AI agents to access structured information.
- Manage vector databases and semantic layers for AI-driven search and contextual grounding.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver data solutions aligned with business and AI needs.
- Mentor junior engineers and champion best practices in DataOps and pipeline orchestration.

Required Skills and Experience
- Strong programming skills in SQL, Python, and experience with ETL/ELT tools (Airflow, dbt, Kafka).
- Expertise in data modeling, distributed systems, and cloud-native platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with data governance, lineage, and observability tools (DataHub, Great Expectations).
- Experience with vector databases and feature store design for AI/ML workflows.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex data issues and optimize performance.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Background in regulated industries or environments with stringent compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with semantic modelling, metadata management, and emerging AI/ML data integration patterns.
- Experience with CI/CD for data workflows, version control, and Agile methodologies.

The compensation range for the position in the U.S. is $110,880 to $210,600 based on a full-time schedule.
