Maintenance Mechanical Engineer

Huntsman is seeking a Maintenance Mechanical Engineer supporting the Performance Products Division located in Conroe, Texas, USA. This position will report to the Team Lead Reliability.

Job Scope

This position is responsible for providing daily mechanical maintenance support to the plant, covering both fixed and rotating equipment. The role plays a key part in partnering with operations to reduce production losses, maximize equipment availability, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards, particularly in line with Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements.

In summary, as the Maintenance Mechanical Engineer, you will:

• Assist with PSM compliance related to mechanical integrity, design, and documentation.

• Inspect and assess equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and improvements, including documentation and Management of Change (MOC) procedures.

• Provide technical support for stationary and rotating equipment across assigned areas.

• Participate in unit inspections and maintenance turnarounds.

• Lead incident investigations for equipment failures and report findings.

• Manage equipment repairs and oversee new equipment installations.

• Develop engineering and procurement specifications.

• Support capital project design with a focus on Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety and Sustainability (RAMS2).

• Occasionally lead projects in response to unplanned plant downtime.

• Stay current on technical developments and support company training and EHS initiatives.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications

Education required:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering

Experience required:

• 5–7+ years of specific experience in mechanical maintenance, particularly in chemical, petrochemical, or refining environments.

Skills and Knowledge

• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, Internet, and Email.

• Demonstrated experience in rotating and fixed equipment maintenance and reliability.

• Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.

• Proficient in Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

• Effective collaboration across departments.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Risk-Based Inspection (RBI).

• Knowledge or experience with Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM).

• Professional Engineering (PE) License.

Working Environment

• This position requires regular presence in the plant environment.

• Must be able to work additional hours as needed, including possible overtime, to meet production goals.

• Participation in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives is expected.
