Our corporate office in Livonia, Michigan is currently seeking a Financial Controls and Compliance Analyst to join our Finance team. The Financial Controls and Compliance Analyst will support the Manager of Financial Controls and Compliance in ensuring the integrity and effectiveness of the company’s financial controls. This role involves assisting with setting control documentation standards, performing risk assessments, and ensuring consistent processes and controls are implemented across the finance and accounting functions.

Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Set control documentation standards and work with the finance and accounting team to implement key financial processes.
  • Perform annual risk assessments and advise on control design and improvements to increase operating effectiveness.
  • Ensure consistent processes and controls are implemented across the finance and accounting functions.
  • Formulate appropriate, practical, and cost-effective recommendations and remediation action plans.
  • Support the design of new business processes to align with internal control structure and business needs.
  • Manage Segregation of Duties (SoD) risks, including risk identification, monitoring SoD conflicts and mitigating controls, quarterly access reviews, and conflict remediation.
  • Identify and clearly define internal control risks, issues, and root causes; recommend improved internal controls and business processes; ensure corrective actions are developed and implemented; and present findings to appropriate management.
  • Facilitate M&A integration with the business to drive seamless integration of M&A businesses into the corporate environment.
  • Support data management and data transparency efforts, strive for data accuracy and consistency through clear and effective data governance process design, and develop clarity on what can be shared and with whom.
  • Be knowledgeable of and promote internal control best practices and control environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Education/Background Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or its foreign equivalent, in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a closely related degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years as an Audit Analyst/Consultant, or in a related audit/internal controls or public accounting role.
  • CPA, CIA, CMA, CFE, MBA preferred but not required.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, risk management, and financial processes.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with financial software and systems.
