About the Opportunity
The Associate Director Strategic Partnerships plays a key role in identifying and cultivating business relationships that lead to the following outcomes: increasing membership in the KPI (Khoury Partnership Initiative) program, creating unique, experiential learning opportunities (co-op, internships, fellowships) for Khoury students (undergrad and graduate level), creating new sponsored research partnerships for Khoury faculty and securing philanthropic support for the Align program. They will do this through lead generation and development, market research, engaging with alumni, faculty and staff, and nurturing relationships with employers across industries including non-profits and local government organizations.
An overarching goal for the College is to build multi-faceted, deep relationships with Industry partners that offer value to the partners and promote Khoury’s mission of “CS for Everyone”. As these relationships evolve, the Associate Director plays an important part in meeting the needs of our Industry partners by connecting them to appropriate programming at Khoury College and throughout the University campus network (recruitment events, research showcases, symposiums) that yield measurable results and impact.
The Associate Director will collaborate actively with various stakeholders: student services/groups, the co-op team, advancement, research institutes, and the university’s office of career services and strategic partnership team as well as business development directors in the network.
Responsibilities:
- Develop new corporate partnerships leads through active prospecting and networking via LinkedIn, conferences, and other relevant events.
- Nurture leads by developing a deep understanding of their needs – talent, research, and philanthropy.
- Explore paths of engagement with prospects and partners (e.g. experiential learning (co-op/internship), sponsoring research projects, and philanthropic gifts for researchers and mission-driven initiatives).
- Manage a portfolio of strategic partners offering opportunities to engage with the university to meet the companies' business objectives, and managing communications that cultivate and expand these relationships.
- Collaborate with other colleges, departments, career services and co-op colleagues, as needed to deliver value for partners.
- Use Salesforce and other key systems/processes to track engagement activities and results.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field
- 8-10 years’ work experience in private sector and/or higher ed
- Proven track record of managing accounts and senior level relationships
- Demonstrated track record of success in sales and/or relationship management
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively across a matrixed environment to deliver against shared strategic goals.
- Demonstrated success in planning and implementation of programs or projects.
- Effective communicator and collaborator with an ability to motivate others towards shared goals.
- Ability to track activity and report results via Salesforce; use of Microsoft Office suite for presentations and reporting.
- Must be able to attend occasional evening events, on-campus meetings and travel up to 10% time.
- Knowledge of Northeastern University preferred.
Additional Information:
The primary work location for this position is the Boston, MA campus. This position currently operates under a hybrid model, requiring a combination of on-campus presence along with a remote work option. The specific work schedule will be dependent upon the operational needs of the College, and the hybrid model is subject to change based on business needs and college and university policies and guidance.
