As an AWS Cloud Systems Software Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the Healthcare Payments Team, you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, and deliver the software components of the firm’s state-of-the-art technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As an emerging member of a software engineering team, you execute software solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role.
Job responsibilities
- Executes standard software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting
- Writes secure and high-quality code using the syntax of at least one programming language with limited guidance
- Provides leadership during the development and enhancement of InstaMed's AWS production systems and network
- Designs, develops, codes, and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications
- Develops and provide systems usage statistics, monitoring approach, and turning recommendations in AWS.
- Performs ongoing monitoring, and reporting of current resource utilization levels, and error utilizing Datadog/Cloudwatch
- Continually refines established disaster recovery and business continuity with AWS availability zones with a 99.99% SLA
- Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain to improve the value realized by automation
- Participates in infrastructure maintenance & refresh activities as defined by the IT Operations maintenance schedule. This includes 24/7 Biweekly on-call rotation.
- Gathers, analyzes, and draws conclusions from large, diverse data sets to identify problems and contribute to decision-making in service of secure, stable application development
- Maintains an awareness of current security threats, vulnerabilities, risks and associated technical countermeasures and security best practices
- Supports and adheres to all InstaMed Compliance and information security policies, practices, and procedure, including the handling of systems and data
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience
- Experience with AWS, Amazon CloudWatch, Lambda EC2/S3/EBS/EFS
- Experience with DataDog Infrastructure Monitoring, and MS Windows Servers (2012 R2 and 2016)
- Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
- Experience with high availability Demonstrable ability to code in one or more languages
- Strong Project Management requirements gathering and analytical skills.
- Experience across the whole Software Development Life Cycle
- Exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
- Emerging knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
- Ability to act discretely with confidential information
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Preferred Server Virtualization Experience - Hyper V Preferred or VMWare
- Experience with high availability / mission critical operations is a plus.
- Experience with co-located datacenters and disaster recovery full replication is a plus.
- Strong communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Ability to think outside the box.
- Familiarity with modern front-end technologies
- Exposure to cloud technologies
