BRIEF DESCRIPTION / POSITION SUMMARY:
The Student Council Assistant Sponsor works with students to help promote a positive culture within the school. There are many responsibilities that the assistant sponsor is responsible for including all homecoming festivities and planning. Throughout the year, the sponsor works with the student body to engage students in activities and help provide opportunities to be connected to school functions.
- Attend all student council meetings
- Email agenda to officers each week before our meeting
- Keep track of attendance
- Homecoming � order all materials for dance/sell tickets/order t-shirts/set up t-shirt sales/organize assembly/help
- supervise homecoming week events/update staff-admin on week's events/supervise set up-take down of dance/organize introduction of court at game/run court voting
- Plan, organize and supervise winter and spring blood drives
- Plan, organize and supervise all community service and faculty relations events
- Hold elections and meet with new officers over the summer
- Interview and appoint committee chairs/co-chairs
- Communicate with other sponsors about working together on events
- Keep track of eligibility
- Communicate with local businesses/charities
- Work in a positive and productive manner with a wide variety of Yorkville High School student, faculty, and staff
- Works within the given budget and keeps accurate records of the monies used and received
- Follows fundraising procedures according to District policies
- Recruits student participants each school year
- Requests room space for meetings and events
- Manages and supervises the use of facilities during activities and events
- Confirms the security of the facilities
- Ensures that students have a way to get home and remains present until the last student is released
- Promotes and publicizes club meetings and events
- Maintains positive relationships with students and interacts with students and adults in a respectful manner
- Collaborates with administration to maintain the vision of the Strategic Goals and purpose of the club/activity
- Uses appropriate channels to resolve concerns and problems
- Completes all training and certification required by the District
- Other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:
SKILLS: Organizational skills and initiative for working with minimal direct supervision. Must show evidence of strong leadership and organizational skills.
KNOWLEDGE: Previous successful experience in sponsorship/mentoring preferred. Substantial knowledge in the area of student support, as well as familiarity with student discipline and safety protocols.
ABILITY: Establish and maintain positive and supportive working relationships with all stakeholders to be flexible and change as needed.
Salary Range: $3,600- $6,032 based on experience
Stipend is subject to the collective bargaining agreement attached here.
