Description

Position Summary:

To coordinate the manufacturing and distribution of products and services for feed while maximizing the locations effectiveness and achieving the cooperative’s goal of customer satisfaction and profitability.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Managerial

  • Communicate the cooperative location goals and results to the staff of the location.
    • Assist with regular location planning and updating meetings that keep the staff informed of company policies, programs, and procedures as well as progress toward location goals.
  • Manage the labor force to meet daily needs with a minimal amount of unproductive labor expense.
    • Meet goals and expectations for cost on manufacturing and sales.
    • Be willing to work in any position as needed to provide good customer service.
    • Put together weekly labor schedules.
    • Approve timecards and time off requests.
  • Supervise the location to achieve its operational goals and objectives.
    • Be responsible for development of performance standards for employees and assign employee responsibilities.
    • Supervise the production of products following quality control guidelines and GMP’s.
  • Follow and support cooperative safety policies.
    • Keep all facilities and equipment in compliance with codes.
    • Work with insurance and safety consultants to keep the location in compliance with state and federal regulations.
    • Ensure DOT compliance.
    • Develop and maintain a regular maintenance schedule fir al facilities, equipment, and rolling stock, and track that the schedule is followed.
    • Ensure all equipment is operated in a safe manner.
  • Work with and develop location employees as a team.
    • Lead by example to help maintain a positive mental attitude of the employees at your location and throughout the entire cooperative.
    • Listen to all employees and try to help them with problem solving skills.
    • Learn the responsibilities of all positions so you can train new employees for any position at your location.
    • Be responsible for ongoing employee raining and development at your location.
    • Recommend appropriate outside training to your direct manger.
    • Identify individual employee performance opportunities in writing yearly.
    • Complete and administer a yearly employee review of each employee under your supervision.
    • Use positive reinforcement or progressive discipline as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Promote United Cooperative as the local feed supplier for the area.
    • Coordinate customer communications, deliveries, and sales of feed and related products.
    • Communicate with customers to give them the feel of the mill as their local supplier.
    • Help identify sales opportunities across commodity lines while fostering a total location team atmosphere.
  • Operation of the facilities.
    • Have daily plan for receiving, manufacturing, and shipping to meet customer needs efficiently.
    • Maintain equipment on a regular basis to minimize any major unexpected shutdowns.
    • Make sure all products and services are accurately billed out at the time products or services are delivered. Make sure that all transfer slips for products moved to other locations go with the product.
    • Maintain an adequate level of inventories of all products to minimize outages.
