We have a job opening for the position of Accountant Business Unit Student Unit at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. Logistics:
This is a part-time internship (24-hours/week) Monday-Friday (flexible schedule) working on-site at 17 Technology Circle, Columbia, SC 29203 in an office environment.
What You’ll Do:
- The Intern position is designed to provide training for actively enrolled high school or college students preparing for entry-level roles.
- Responsibilities may differ and are determined by the needs of the department and the qualifications of the individual at the time of hiring.
- This position involves working under direct supervision and entails responsibilities for performing entry-level tasks while gaining knowledge of professional-level tasks related to area operations.
- May support the implementation of various activities and programs for designated business units within the organization.
- Participates in departmental training programs aimed at helping individuals in this position acquire relevant knowledge and skills pertinent to their area of expertise.
- Assists with departmental tasks that facilitate the understanding of procedures and the application of industry best practices.
- May communicate with other areas of the company. May conduct research and analysis of various reports (monthly, quarterly, annually).
- Performs tasks that help in learning the business area and which provide an overall view of company operations.
- Assist other staff members with everyday tasks to gain an understanding of business operations and workflow.
- Completes other assigned area related tasks. May identify areas of needed improvement and communicates to management.
To Qualify for This Position, You Will Need:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a minimum of 12 semester hours earned in Accounting and must be currently enrolled in college and working towards obtaining at least a 4-year degree in in Accounting.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Developed organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Analytical or critical thinking skills.
- Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information with discretion.
- Effective planning and multi-tasking skills.
- Strong listening skills and the ability to follow directions and ask questions to ensure a productive internship.
- Proficiency with Microsoft office software, especially Microsoft
