This is a grant funded position with an end date of 08/31/24, renewable based upon availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward research goals. START Team programs and projects have been continuously and increasingly funded since 2019; funding is expected to continue.

The Project Implementation Coordinator will support the expansion, dissemination, and implementation projects of the Substance Use Treatment and Resources for Texas (START) Team within the department of Internal Medicine at Dell Medical School. The START team is a multidisciplinary team of faculty, staff, and learners who work together to increase access to evidence-based treatment and recovery support for substance use and addiction. Develop hospital-initiated comprehensive clinical services for people with substance use disorders in central Texas, with a focus on underserved populations

Purpose

As the Project Implementation Coordinator, you will combine your project management experience with exceptional problem solving, communication, and organizational skills to provide comprehensive project implementation, operations, and research support for multiple, complex, state and federally funded projects with the ultimate goal of changing the lives of the people within our community. This position reports to the START Program Director and works closely with clinical care team members, researchers, medical trainees, funders, contractors, stakeholders, and community partners; this position does not require direct patient contact.  

Responsibilities

Project Coordination

  • Take ownership and responsibility for implementation success and optimization. Actively and continuously problem solve to create innovative solutions or approaches to ensure project success.  

  • Review terms and conditions of executed awards to develop project coordination plans and track completion of deliverables. 

  • Work collaboratively with program director and team members, sub-awardees and contractors, and administrative staff, to facilitate effective project management such as developing and communicating timelines for meeting project deliverables. 

  • Coordinate internal and external meetings, notes, and action items. Present status updates and work directly with internal and external stakeholders. 

  • Provide project coordination support for program director and principal investigators to ensure satisfaction of project reporting requirements by participating in discussions with sponsors, drafting correspondence, assisting with reporting, and coordinating with internal and external collaborators. 

  • Maintain working relationships with other teams both internal and external to the institution and act as a contact between program director and other partners. Participate in regular team and working meetings and regular training and in-services with the team. 

  • Provide support to a variety of departments within Dell Medical School and UT Austin to coordinate and implement new projects and initiatives including clinical operations, contract management and administrative oversight. 

  • Development of outward facing educational and reference materials in partnership with clinical team members 

  • Provide ad hoc support to program director, principal investigators, and program team members to ensure successful project performance. 

Research Coordination 

  • Complete periodic data collection and cleaning to support regular or ad hoc reporting requests 

  • Assist in the development of the data capture and management system and the development of data QA/QC. Use a variety of software and database technologies, including RedCap, Excel, and the study web platform/app. 

  • Participate in the drafting of scholarly output to promote the work and impact of the team’s projects including manuscripts, conference abstracts, and presentations.
