Full-Time I First Shift

Pharmacy Services I Lexington, KY

The Department of Pharmacy Services of Baptist Health Lexington provides pharmaceutical services to patients across the continuum of care. These services include, but are not limited to verification of medication orders, drug distribution, sterile product preparation, hazardous drug preparation, and utilization of automated dispensing cabinets. In addition, decentralized pharmacists provide services such as management of pharmacy dosing consults, provision of drug information, therapeutic recommendations, and participation in daily multidisciplinary rounds.

Description:

  • Pharmacy residency is a twelve-month postgraduate training program designed to prepare pharmacists for practice.
  • Resident will serve primarily in a learning capacity within the institution and participate in patient care across a variety of practice settings.
  • In addition, the resident will participate in central drug distribution via staffing shifts in the central pharmacy.
  • Provide safe and effective patient care to a diverse range of patients, including those with multiple co-morbidities, high-risk medication regimens, and multiple medications following a consistent patient care process.
  • Prepare, dispense, and manage medications to support safe and effective drug therapy for patients.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage formulary and medication-use processes, as applicable to the organization.
  • Demonstrate personal, interpersonal, and teamwork skills critical for effective leadership.
  • Provide effective medication and practice-related education to patients, caregivers, health care professionals, students, and the public (individuals and groups).
  • Effectively employ appropriate preceptors’ roles when engaged in teaching (e.g., students, pharmacy technicians, or other health care professionals).

Requirements:

  • Doctorate of Pharmacy.
  • Pharmacy licensure in the Commonwealth of Kentucky is required for participation in the residency program.
