The Construction Quality Control Manager manages and oversees all activities related to all aspects of quality control and assurance on the project inclusive of a complete implementation of the project specific Quality Control Plan.
Requirements: • A minimum of five years in construction industry • Minimum five years’ experience as a CQCM • Understand means and methods of construction associated with the construction of commercial and institutional buildings • Understand the sequencing of work and the strategy of creating effective project schedules • Must be proficient on the computer and be able to use Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel and Outlook • Must have a proven track record of meeting production, quality and customer service standards in a fast paced construction environment The ideal candidate should also possess the following: • Good time management skills, leadership, mathematical and analytical skills • Specific knowledge of building construction • Ability to read and understand construction documents • Knowledge of the design development, bidding, and contract administration processes • Strong written and oral communication skills • Disciplined, responsible personality with attention to detail and very organized • High energy level and strong work ethic • A team player with the ability to work independently • Ability to manage / coordinate simultaneous projects, balance competing priorities with good judgment, proactively problem-solve, and meet deadlines • Must possess sound judgment, be able to think clearly and make informed decisions in crisis situations • Must possess emotional maturity, good moral character and integrity and at all times • Must uphold the values embraced by Hoar: Golden Rule, Family Oriented, Relentless Pursuit of Improvement, Stewardship • Handle sensitive and confidential assignments with tact and diplomacy • Initiative and strong customer service focus (Both internally and externally) • Must be comfortable with communicating with high-level management, as well as external clients • Must work as a Team with the Superintendent on the Project. Responsibilities • Create, update and maintain the project submittal log and all other project specific quality control reports • Review shop drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications by direct review and by leveraging the knowledge and experience of others in the project team when necessary • Chair and document weekly QC meetings with the superintendent and provide written minutes as described in project specific contract documents • Provide written daily QC reports that reinforce activities that are being constructed in conformance with each specific project's established standard and constructively confronts non-conformances to produce the desired outcome in a timely manner • Conduct preparatory, initial and follow-up meetings to establish an understanding of the standards of care desired for each definable feature of work. Verify that checklists are being used and signed off prior to the placement of concrete, steel and other similar items of work • Verify and document that all materials received for the project are in conformance with the approved submittal, are handled and stored appropriately and are acceptable for use in the project • Conduct periodic follow-up inspections to verify that work is proceeding with the contract documents and the approved submittals. • Document final inspections, certificates of occupancy and acceptance of the works and various phases. • Perform other duties as assigned.
