Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Corrections and the Office of Adult Education and Vocational Services is looking for a professional educator that possesses a valid Professional Education License. The OAEVS educator will provide Adult Basic Education and Adult Secondary Education services to adult individuals. The chosen candidate will assess the learning needs of the student, plan and implement instructional actives, evaluate student success while promoting a positive learning environment. The mission is to engage, educate and impower the adult education student. All eligible applicants are encouraged to apply.
Essential Functions
- Administer classroom and individual level instruction to participating individuals in custody.
- Within the purview of the Curriculum Policy, develop curricula for each assigned teaching subject and approximate grade level.
- Develops examination tools designed to measure each student’s strengths, weaknesses and progress.
- Prepares and keeps detailed records and reports on attendance, achievement and individual progress and needs of the students.
- Direct students in additional school related activities when necessary.
- Attends and participates in discussion and planning at regular teachers meetings, including counselor-teacher meetings, team meetings and staff development.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires possession of a current and valid ISBE-issued Professional Educator License with endorsement appropriate to the content area, elementary & Secondary Education in grades K-12.
