The opportunity: The Commercial Dental & Vision Strategic Growth and Pricing team is a strategic enablement organization that oversees the development and execution of business strategies across commercial dental and vision to drive future top-line growth and bottom-line underlying earnings in support of our strategic & financial objectives.

This individual will partner with the leader of the Commercial Dental & Vision Strategic Growth and Pricing team and be a key contributor to the newly established and large market focused Dental Center of Excellence within Sun Life.  We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic actuary to develop and enhance pricing models and support profitable business growth for our large market dental and vision business.

How you will contribute: 

• Enhance, design, implement and maintain actuarial pricing tools to support market leading pricing capabilities with a focus on large market rating algorithms, compliance, and data capture.
• Collaborate with key business stakeholders in a matrixed-organization to support profitable growth
• Conduct market analysis to support strategy development, financial planning and business decision making
• Contribute to organizational forecasts and identify opportunities to implement solutions that will enhance our value prop and improve our ability to scale with planned growth 
• Develop outstanding portfolio management capabilities to support business intelligence and management information, including calculation and reporting of key actuarial operating performance
• Provide actuarial support for Rate Filings
• Develops, coaches and engages people to higher levels of performance
• Demonstrate the highest standards of ethics, diversity and inclusion as part of Sun Life’s commitment to fostering a sustainable business model 

What you will bring with you: 

• 8+ years of relevant experience and/or a high level of technical expertise with a preference in the large market space
• Bachelors degree required
• Credentialed (FSA/ASA) with active status in the Society of Actuaries
• Outstanding ability to think strategically
• Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and apply critical thinking and creativity to solve problems
• Ability to multi-task with strong time management skills
• Experience working in a team environment collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders
• Excellent communication and presentation skills (written, verbal) with the ability to explain complex ideas to broad audiences; knows when to go deep and when to stay at a high level 
• Highly motivated and independent thinker 
• Flexible to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment in a professional and prompt manner 
• Adaptable, flexible and comfortable dealing with ambiguity
