Job Description

This position is for a Data Scientist at the in Shreveport, LA and is responsible for supporting our project teams with insights gained from analyzing associated data. Utilize large data sets to find opportunities for process optimization and build models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action. Use a variety of data mining/data analysis methods and data tools; build and implement models; use/create algorithms; and create/run simulations. Ability to drive project success with their data-based insights. Will work with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams. The right candidate will have a passion for discovering solutions hidden in large data sets and working with stakeholders to improve business outcomes. Duties and Responsibilities:

•        Work with stakeholders to identify opportunities for leveraging internal and external data to drive business solutions.

•        Mine and analyze data from multiple data sources to drive optimization and improvement of system development, future strategies, marketing techniques and business strategies.

•        Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.

•        Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.

•        Use A.I., machine learning, and predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, trade-off analysis, and other business outcomes.

•        Coordinate with different functional teams to implement models, perform analysis, and monitor outcomes.

•        Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data validation and accuracy.

•        Work with data engineers and analysts to curate varying data sources and create and maintain data repositories.

•        Maintain effective internal and external customer relations.

•        Effectively visualize and communicate results and findings in an actionable manner.

•        Recommend actions or decisions to improve data processes, data utility, and results.

•        Perform special projects as requested.

Requirements and Qualifications:

•        Eligible for SCI-DCID 6/4 Top Secret Clearance.  US citizenship required.

•        Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or another relevant quantitative field. 

•        Experience manipulating data sets and building statistical models.

•        Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques: GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, social network analysis, etc.

•        Experience querying databases and using statistical computer languages such as R, Python, SQL, etc.

•        Experience using web services such as Redshift, S3, Spark, Digital Ocean, etc.

•        Experience creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics:

regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, etc.

•        Experience analyzing data from 3rd party providers such as Google Analytics, Site Catalyst, Coremetrics, Adwords, Crimson Hexagon, Facebook Insights, etc.

•        Experience with distributed data/computing tools such as MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, etc.

•        Experience visualizing/presenting data for stakeholders using such as Periscope, Business Objects, D3, etc.

•        Experience working with and creating data architectures.

•        Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.

•        Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on process optimization.

•        Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams and communicating findings.

•        Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and like programs.

Work Requirements

•     Hours:  8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mon-Fri (typical).  Due to the nature of the business and depending on specific event schedules, the employee may be required to vary typical work hours. 

•     Occasional weekend work could be required. 

•     Occasional travel may be required.
