Position Type: Full-time, Temporary Position.
Position Summary:
The College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) is seeking a Researcher 2 to join an interdisciplinary team focused on plant food phytochemical research aimed at improving human health. This role will support research efforts in the Horticulture and Crop Science Department, utilizing both targeted and untargeted metabolomics approaches to investigate the presence and function of secondary plant metabolites in biological systems, including plants, animals, and humans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, execute, and coordinate research projects in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
- Conduct metabolomics-based experiments to analyze secondary plant metabolites.
- Identify new research opportunities and contribute to the development of grant proposals.
- Collect, manage, and analyze experimental data using appropriate statistical and analytical tools.
- Prepare research findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Present research outcomes through seminars, lectures, and scientific conferences.
- Supervise and mentor graduate students, undergraduate researchers, and visiting scholars in the laboratory.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience in plant science, biochemistry, food science, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience with a Master’s degree, or 3 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with metabolomics platforms (e.g., LC-MS, GC-MS).
- Strong background in plant secondary metabolism and analytical chemistry.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a research environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in mentoring or supervising students in a lab setting.
