About the role
Responsibilities
PeopleTec is currently seeking an Enterprise Architect / Cloud Solutions Architect to support our Huntsville, AL and/or Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD location.
The Enterprise Architect will be responsible for developing and maintaining the overall architectural vision and framework for a US Army DOD customer. This role involves strategic planning, systems integration, and alignment of technology solutions with mission objectives to support U.S. Army intelligence, electronic warfare, and sensor initiatives.
Duties Include:
- Architectural Vision & Strategy: Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture framework, ensuring alignment with US Army DOD customer’s strategic goals and objectives. Define the architectural vision for integrating and optimizing digital engineering systems and solutions.
- System Integration: Oversee the design and integration of complex systems across the Digital Engineering Environment. Ensure interoperability and seamless integration of hardware, software, and data systems.
- Technology Assessment & Planning: Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies to recommend and implement solutions that enhance the capabilities and efficiency of the Digital Engineering Environment.
- Architecture Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive architectural documentation, including architecture models, design specifications, and system interfaces. Ensure documentation is up-to-date and aligns with best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Standards & Governance: Establish and enforce architectural standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across all systems and projects. Conduct architectural reviews and assessments to ensure compliance with organizational and DoD standards.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with senior leadership, project managers, and technical teams to understand business needs, define architectural requirements, and provide strategic guidance on technology solutions.
- Risk Management: Identify and assess potential risks associated with architectural decisions and system integrations. Develop mitigation strategies to address risks and ensure the stability and security of the Digital Engineering Environment.
- Change Management: Lead efforts to manage changes to the enterprise architecture, including assessing the impact of new technologies, system upgrades, and modifications on existing systems and processes.
- Mentorship & Training: Provide mentorship and training to technical teams and stakeholders on architectural best practices, tools, and methodologies. Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the organization.
- Reporting & Communication: Prepare and present architectural reports, proposals, and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders. Clearly communicate complex architectural concepts and their implications.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in enterprise architecture, systems engineering, or related fields, with a proven track record of developing and implementing complex architectural solutions in a Dept of Defense environment.
- Advanced cloud service/vendor certification from Azure (e.g., Azure Administrator Associate, AWS Solutions Architect Associate, AWS SysOps Administrator Associate).
- Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems, including advanced configurations and optimizations.
- Experience with implementing enterprise authentication and Role-Based Access, particularly in complex, multi-platform environments.
- Strong skills related to working with docker and Kubernetes to deploy cloud native applications through complex SDLC processes and CI/CD pipelines.
- Expertise with Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services.
- Proficient in using Terraform to implement complex Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions.
- Competent working with multiple types of CI/CD architectures/tools (e.g. GitLab, Ansible, Jenkins, Azure DevOps)
- Experience using Ansible for server and workstation configuration management in large-scale environments.
- Strong networking background with in-depth knowledge of IP subnetting, network security groups, routing, Palo Alto firewall configurations, load balancing, DNS, etc.
- Travel: Less than 15 %
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- An active DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment.
