Description
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) seeks to hire an Accountant I for its Finance Division. Under the direction of the Finance and Budget Office Manager, this position is responsible for processing transactions in the Commonwealth’s accounting and procurement system as well as the MGC’s accounts payable and contract software. This role will assist the Finance Team with accounts payable, procurements, contracts, accounts receivable and general analysis.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
· Conduct financial transactions utilizing the Massachusetts Management Accounting and Reporting System (MMARS).
· Conduct bid postings for Requests for Response, Requests for Information and Requests for Quote’s as well as creating purchase orders for goods and services utilizing the Commonwealth’s procurement system, COMMBUYS.
· Meet with internal divisions to determine procurement needs and postings.
· Follow-up with internal divisions and outside vendors regarding contract documents, amendments and invoice requests.
· Utilize the Commission’s Contract Life-cycle Management software to store and manage contract related files.
· Upload invoices into accounts payable software to track and secure internal approval.
· Utilize the Commonwealth Information Warehouse (CIW) for running queries and performing analysis of encumbrances, payments and general spending.
· Manage department mail and incoming packages.
· Participate in Finance Team, Budget, and Accounts Payable meetings.
· Assist cross-functionally within the Finance Division as needed.
· Other duties as assigned.

· Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Experience, Education, and Training:
· High school diploma required; a bachelor’s degree or coursework in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, or a related field is preferred
· Minimum of one year of relevant experience
· Knowledge of general accounting
