About the role

Position Summary:

Under general supervision and reporting to the Director of Quality Operations, the Special Process Engineer/Auditor is responsible for performing Special Process Audits, performing investigations, and corrective actions for special processes issues.

Essential Functions:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

•Perform Special Process Audits, investigations, and issue corrective actions for issues with specialprocesses.
•Establish Special Process Audit elements, including creation and performance of checklists andschedule.
•Create reports of audit findings and categorize in accordance with customer requirements.
•Ensure containment actions and disclosures are performed when findings affect multiple parts ordelivered products.
•Create and manage recurrence of audits to include metrics for processor performance.
•Ensure corrective actions are in place to prevent recurrence of anomalies identified during the auditsor surveillance.
•Ensure compliance to applicable standards
•Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of:

•Special processes including paint, welding, FPL etch, pre-penetrant etches, anodize, hardness andconductivity and chemical cleaning.
•Aerospace requirements
•Quality Management Systems and performance metrics

Skills:

•Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel

•Identify and assess hazard and quality defect. Drive continuous improvement.
•Effectively work with production team and other members of quality team to develop and maintain arobust and effective quality system.

•Communicate with other departments regarding actions taken to resolve non-conformances
•Establish and maintain effective working relationships
•Perform Audits

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma; as preferred
  • Aerospace experience preferred
  • 5 years' auditing and certified to perform audits, auditing certification preferred.
  • 5 years' quality experience.
  • Any combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • US citizenship required 
Licenses, certifications & Other Requirements
Vision Exam is required prior to hire. Requirements are as follows:
  • The General Vision Acuity Test shall be performed by an Oculist, Optometrist, or other professionally recognized person. The following requirements shall apply.
    • Near Vision – Eyes meets Orthorater 8 (95% or Jaeger #2 at 12 inches)
    • Far vision – Eyes meets Orthorater 4 (76%) or Snellen Chart 20/50
    • Color Perception – 6 of 9 Orthorater plates 
  • US or International citizenship or permanent residence status required depending on work location.
  • Pass pre-hire background check including credit screening
  • Pre-Hire Drug Screening
WORKING CONDITIONS
Productivity: Incumbents must perform work in an efficient, effective, and timely manner with minimal direction.
Mobility: Incumbents are required to participate in assigned physical activities which may include light lifting and sitting for prolonged periods of time.
Vision: Vision sufficient to read printed documents, computer screens, and observe behavior of others.
Environment: Typical office conditions, directly working Quality management team, working with the SMS team, and external customers.
Other Factors: Typical hours worked are Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Incumbents may be required to work occasional extended hours and weekend overtime.
The employee frequently is required to use hands or finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk (approximately 1-2 miles a day); sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee will occasionally drive long distances to and from various suppliers as needed. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
