Job Description
We are working with a client in need of a qualified Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) Project Manager for an engagement opportunity at a global manufacturer of high-performance materials. The company is in the midst of launching multiple initiatives to help transform the business.
The PLM Program Manager will be responsible for validating current and future business needs, assessing existing capabilities (process and technology), evaluating in-flight / planned initiatives, and confirming the roadmap to take the business from current state to future state. The consultant will serve as both an internal subject matter expert and accountable for the design and implementation of the future state PLM solution.
Project Length: 12 months plus
Location: Remote (50%) as well as on-site (Philadelphia)
Responsibilities
- Manage, jointly with System Integrator (SI), all aspects of PLM Project life cycle to facilitate successful delivery of the program.
- Oversee detailed project plans, metrics, work plans, schedules, resource plans, and status reports.
- Assess complex situations and identify viable solutions that create successful outcomes.
- Manage relationships with all stakeholders, including internal clients, SI, and third-party; keeping stakeholders informed of progress and issues in order to manage expectations on all initiative requirements and deliverables.
- Ensure proper use of methodology, tools, and procedures.
- Provide subject matter expertise in how to leverage the PLM technology to enable the successful delivery of business requirements.
- Provide guidance, analysis, and recommendations to facilitate decision making around the implementation approach.
- Serve as strategic advisor while also providing hands on recommendations and practical advice on how to optimize the use of the PLM solution - providing guidance with respect to “best practices”.
- Provide recommendations and options for consideration, create design documents and high-level process flows, and develop functional specifications as needed.
- Collaborate with business to define future state – process, data, and capability perspectives.
- Collaborate with IT to develop technical framework to deliver the future state.
- Create the roadmap to deliver the future state, considering key initiatives (e.g., SAP S4/HANA and Salesforce implementation).
- Socialize and gain acceptance of proposed solution (roadmap) from impacted stakeholders.
- Support implementation and maintenance activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Information Technology, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- 15+ years’ professional experience in Engineering/Manufacturing IT systems including ERP, PLM, MES and QMS.
- 10+ years’ experience supporting PLM implementations as a subject matter expert and/or project manager.
- Demonstrated ability to balance longer term strategic thinking against more tactical execution of shorter-term deliverables.
- Deep understanding of PLM business processes.
- Experience integrating PLM with SAP is required.
- Experience with Dassault Systèmes preferred.
- Working knowledge of order-to-cash, forecast-to-plan, and plan-to-make end-to-end business processes.
- In-depth understanding related to new product introduction / end-of-life, engineering change, production related data (BOM, Recipe etc.), quality management / quality related data, EH&S (product safety and dangerous goods), MSDS, and COA.
- Experience with system integration involving ERP, add-on applications, and trading partners is required.
- Experience in the process industry; especially in the chemical/materials industry is required.
- Working knowledge of enterprise technical infrastructure required.
- Proven ability to create strategies and execute on those strategies.
- Experience with multi-company and multi-country implementation is required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to adapt to frequent change.
