Our Connected Aviation Solutions (CAS) group has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Systems Engineer to join our Air Traffic Solutions – Domestic Air Traffic Control team. Air Traffic Solutions is developing the next generation of Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System (STARS), as well as providing support to existing fielded systems.
***This position is based at our Marlborough, MA facility and offers the 9/80 work schedule, giving you every other Friday off.***
What YOU will do:
You will work on the STARS air traffic control system which is the primary system used for all air traffic control within the United States.
You will be a part of a systems engineering team working on a new contract to modernize the STARS system.
You will develop solutions to customer issues through development of system and product level requirements.
You will develop sell-off criteria to verify requirements.
You will have an impact in modernizing air traffic control across the country.

Education & Experience:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
Qualifications you must have:
Ability to receive and understand technical direction, meet assignment dates, and work with others in both an office and laboratory environment.
Experience generating technical documentation and preparing / facilitating briefings with all levels of internal / external stakeholders.
Experience with requirements decomposition, flow-down and verification.
Experience with IBM DOORS, Atlassian Jira and Confluence, Microsoft Office Suite, and other systems engineering and architecture tools.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.
Skills we value:
Programming skills such as C++ and/or Java/J2EE, scripting languages such as Python, or modeling tools such as MATLAB.
Prior ATC program work experience.
Development experience on an FAA Government Contract.
Experience with Agile Development Processes.
Experience with Red Hat Linux 9.x.
Proficient with Integration and Test best practices.
