About the Position: This position is located at Naval Health Clinic Charleston, Charleston, South Carolina.

Serve as a Physician (Occupational Medicine), located in Directorate of Clinical Support Occupational Medicine Branch at Naval Health Clinic Charleston in Charleston, SC. Hours are Monday-Friday between the hours of 0630-1600. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Responsibilities

MAJOR DUTIES

 

  • Perform occupational physical examinations of various types including pre-placement, medical surveillance, medical qualification, disability retirement, fitness for duty, and any other special employee examinations that may be required.
  • Coordinates with facility and community resources to provide comprehensive work-related care to employees.
  • Notify management of exam results and recommends appropriate work restrictions/accommodations.
  • Interpret ancillary test results for evidence of possible occupational disease or confounding personal health conditions.
  • Diagnoses and appropriately consults for follow-up evaluations for conditions discovered as a result of the occupational medical examinations.
  • Evaluates and treats on-the-job illnesses and injuries and stabilizes and transfers those suffering from urgent or potentially life-threatening illnesses and injuries. Assists in self-care transfer activities.
  • Conducts periodic worksite visits.
  • Develops and oversees medical surveillance and medical qualification programs.
  • Serves as member of the professional medical staff and provides advisory and consultative services on various meetings, committees, conferences, and boards.

 

Performs other duties as assigned.
