Hybrid Role: This role is hybrid, with an established schedule of in-person work required at an assigned work location. Any remote work is expected to be performed from an employee’s primary residence, unless allowed (or prohibited) through the Company’s remote work guidelines.

Emergency Response: Yes – Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE’s emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.

Job Summary

  • Highest professional level/expert IT Senior Security Engineering position. Works as a team member to provide Level 2 and Level 3 support, make recommendations, lead projects, and direct the development and/or research of security technologies. Performs complex tasks related to area of technical responsibility, works on multiple assignments and projects, and leads/facilitates meetings and group discussions, presentations, and technical training classes. Mentors and coaches less experienced IT Security Engineers and ITS personnel. Provides leadership and technical direction on all aspects of security engineering. Incumbent is expected to establish and secure approval of goals and policies for his/her own area of responsibility, consistent with Corporate goals and objectives. Actions are reviewed in terms of goals accomplished. Span of control: 0; this is an individual contributor job

Key Accountabilities

  • May lead projects and/or project teams (including assigning work, reviewing progress and evaluating re-sults), mentor, provide guidance and technical direction to less experienced engineering and technical staff, including the provision of input in performance evaluations, but is not responsible for supervising anyone.
  • Plans, schedules, and manages all operational day-to-day engineering support work activities for security/authentication technologies/infrastructures; manages trouble ticket/problem resolution and issue escalation.
  • Leads projects to ensure on-time and in-budget implementation to support the achievement of business unit strategic plans.
  • Makes recommendations in area of security administration/authentication and the introduction of technology to the IT organization; participates in evaluating enabling technologies; designs and manages security architectures; leads research of advanced technologies.
  • Consults on planning and issues in security administration/authentication design and direction; provides configurations for security administration/authentication; consults with application teams on proper design and use of technologies and tools; consults on security architecture design and direction.
  • Actively seeks continuous improvement opportunities and leads continuous improvement initiatives of internal processes, procedures, and standards; may consult on efforts to improve the quality of organizational processes, policies, and standards.
  • Consults on operational and planning issues related to security administration / authentication technologies; works closely with outside vendors in planning projects, to evaluate vendor's software, and to resolve issues
  • Keeps abreast of technology trends and the stated direction of the enterprise in order to select technology platforms that are appropriate and cost beneficial; has an established professional presence in the industry and maintains business relationships with key technical dependent industries and organizations to support the application of technology to specific business areas.
