Job location

In this position, you have the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in Romania or you can choose to work from our offices in Cluj, depending on your preference.

About the team and the role

We are an international team working on a new product called the Engagement Hub. Our vision is to make insurance products available on any distribution platform. In other words, our solution makes it possible to create many bite-size insurance products that are easily embeddable in the distribution channels of distributors.

Our team consists of insurance industry experts, product owners, scrum masters, service designers, UI/UX designers, and software engineers with a focus on backend and/or frontend technologies. This creates a great opportunity to work with amazing people with great skills that are focused on the same goal.

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer that would like to work on in-house product development, in a full scrum team, using technologies like Java, Kotlin, SpringBoot, and Kubernetes. The results of your work would be used for creating micro frontends that are embeddable in many different types of channels.

Requirements

The ideal candidate would:

• Have 5+ years of experience as a software engineer

• Be used to working closely with industry experts and collaborating with teammates from different cultures
• Have an in-depth knowledge of OOP languages like Java or Kotlin
• Be aware of the best practices of Web API design
• Have used SpringBoot or similar to write microservices
• Have some experience with Kubernetes
• Have some experience with using cloud infrastructure and services (Azure, GCP or AWS)
• Be aware of unit testing frameworks and web APIs
• Have experience with ORMs such as Hibernate
• Be a solution-oriented person with a structured working mode
• Have a strong interest in modern technologies and tools
• Fluency in English
  

It would be nice if you

• Have created microservices in Java or Kotlin and deployed them regularly to a Kubernetes clusters
• Feel comfortable working in Azure
• Are an expert in Web API design and love clean, well-documented, and tested APIs in your projects
• Do not find setting up and adjusting CI/CD pipelines scary
