About the role

Zurich North America is hiring a National Construction Professional Liability Consultant (AVP OR VP) to join our Specialties Construction team. We open to hiring talent located within a commutable distance to any ZNA office location to benefit from our flexible, hybrid working arrangements. We are open to hiring talent on a fully-remote basis based on discretion of the hiring manager.

 

This role will be responsible for various aspects of Construction Professional Liability portfolio management including utilizing data analytics to inform strategy, stewarding underwriting quality, and partnering in tool & product innovation efforts.  Additional responsibilities include analyzing and underwriting highly complex new and renewal business in a referral capacity as a subject matter expert. This position will support Construction’s efforts in customer service and profitable growth, working closely with leadership and various internal stakeholders to deliver comprehensive first-party risk transfer solutions for Contractors Professional Protective Indemnity, Owners Professional Protective Indemnity, along with other emerging solutions.


This role will be filled at either AVP OR VP level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.

 

There will be approximately 25% travel for this position. 


In this role you will be responsible for:

 

  • Manage data analytics-based initiatives at a national level, providing insights and subsequent tangible action items
  • Partner with Technical Underwriting in guideline and Business Strategic Directive development
  • Spearhead SBU led efforts in underwriting quality, including file/regulatory documentation and Technical Underwriting Reviews/Audits
  • Work at the highest authority limits on assignments utilizing a high degree of technical complexity and coordination, and under minimal direction, underwrite and analyze new and renewal business within delegated authority levels of highly complex assignments. Coordinate and support global referrals as required
  • Demonstrate specialized knowledge and expertise in products and industry.
  • Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating manuals.
     

Basic Qualifications, AVP Level:

 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
    OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
    OR
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
    OR
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
    AND
  • Experience with Microsoft Office

Basic Qualifications, VP Level:

 

  • Bachelors Degree and 9 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
    OR
  • Bachelors Degree and 18 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
    AND
  • Experience in a specialized insurance line of business or segment (Construction Property)

 

Preferred Qualifications:
 

  • CPCU
  • Advanced knowledge of Construction Professional Liability product lines, the commercial insurance and Construction/Engineering industry
