About the role

GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION:

The Admissions and Advising Systems Architect develops, maintains, and enhances processes for solutions and best practices to improve and leverage Ivy Tech’s student systems, primarily Workday Student, to support Ivy Tech's objectives. This position partners with stakeholders across the organization to create and iterate on technology opportunities to create an exceptional student experience to the organization. The Admissions and Advising Systems Architect is responsible for maintaining the user experience of Workday Student and leadership of the Admissions and Advising Student Admissions and Advising Systems Administration Team. The Admissions and Advising Systems Administration Team is responsible for managing a broad portfolio of solutions primarily through Workday Student including student recruitment, application, admissions, and enrollment management; student engagement management; student success; coaching and advising; and campaigns and events.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leads implementation process of Workday Student for the college on all functions related to student enrollment, engagement, and success.

Leads building and enhancement of processes to design, develop, implement, optimize, and support Workday Student configuration to meet business processes, capabilities, and needs.

Serves as the product owner for Workday Student security and system-wide configurations for all things Admissions and Advising.

In collaboration with Provost and college vice presidents, develops and manages strategic plans for student systems with input from statewide Enrollment Services, Student Success, and Career Link teams.

Leads the Student Systems Administration Team: including identifying and addressing roadblocks, providing coaching, supporting team member roles, and supporting the agile mindset.

Identifies key risks and ensures mitigation to organization acceptable levels.

Responsible for total quality assurance process for Workday Student including configuration/code standards, configuration/code reviews, design and execution of test cases, and test scripts.

Ensures processes provide support to end users including hypercare for major releases.

Provides support to other analysts and ensures all Workday Student release items are implemented on time.

Maintains knowledge of governmental and state audit practices and requirements relating to system configuration through multiple tenant environments.

Identifies inefficiencies in processes, suggests enhancements, and presents proposals to stakeholders for internal Workday enhancements.

Coordinates with other college and campus leaders, as well as Workday architects including attending committee and release meetings.

Fosters ongoing Workday relationships and partnerships with campus teams and the Workday community to ensure understanding of all current and new functionality available.

Proactively learns new technologies, standards, and applications; to keep current with new developments in technology.

Researches, conceptualizes, and develops prototypes to test architectural concepts.

Optimizes systems for performance, scalability, reliability, extensibility, and total cost of ownership.

Develops and guides a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

Bachelor's degree required.

Must possess a minimum of five (5) years of project management experience with a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience. Experience in student affairs or enrollment services preferred.

Workday Certification is a plus for this position. Candidates who are not certified will need to successfully pass Workday certification following implementation as well as successful re-certification as an ongoing condition of employment.

Must maintain a rigorous commitment to quality, security, and attention to detail.

Must demonstrate a strong understanding of data design and management.

Must demonstrate a strong foundation in analytical and problem-solving skills.
