Associate Director, RDU IT - Commercial Platform

As the global leader in complement inhibition, Alexion has developed and markets Soliris® (eculizumab) for the treatment of PNH and </span><span>aHUS</span><span>, two debilitating, ultra-rare, and life-threatening disorders. Soliris is approved in over 40 countries for PNH and in the United States and European Union for </span><span>aHUS</span><span>. Alexion is also exploring other potential indications for Soliris and developing other innovative biotechnology product candidates. The Associate Director of Commercial Platform will handle core commercial platforms like Veeva CRM, SFDC (Salesforce.com), and content management &amp; distribution platforms (Align &amp; MDM). This role involves working closely with business partners and development teams to ensure </span><span>timely</span><span> delivery of technical components with desired quality in all phases of SDLC for new applications and improvements in existing apps.</span></span><span> </span></p><p><span> </span></p><p><b><span><span>Accountabilities</span></span><span> </span></b></p><p><span><span>• Work closely with third-party/vendor onshore/offshore resources and the Global IT team to manage, </span><span>maintain</span><span>, and deliver value through robust unified commercial platforms.</span></span><span> </span></p><p><span><span>• Assist the Director in running capital and expense budgets and vendor contract negotiations.</span></span><span> </span></p><p><span><span>• Ensure key technical components are delivered on time and with desired quality in all phases of new application development or improvements to existing applications.</span></span><span> </span></p><p><span><span>• Supervise internal and external development teams for alignment to best practices and standards, including security, architecture, coding standards, deployments, and operating procedures.</span></span><span> </span></p><p><span><span>• Drive the creation and maintenance of streamlined processes for implementing the long-range strategy and roadmap of applications ensuring alignment with Veeva and business needs.</span></span><span> </span></p><p><span><span>• Collaborate globally with business partners and internal IT stakeholders to gather business requirements and implement IT strategies.</span></span><span> </span></p><p><span><span>• Lead direct reports and </span><span>additional</span><span> onshore/offshore resources from vendors or temporary staff by recruiting, training, and mentoring employees and communicating job expectations.</span></span><span> </span></p><p><span><span>• Lead Commercial Pharma business applications including Veeva CRM and Salesforce.com by:</span></span><span> </span></p><ul><li><p><span><span>Operational monitoring and improvements including backup strategy, Disaster Recovery, and archiving.</span></span><span> </span></p></li><li><p><span><span>Developing and enforcing release management strategy and development standards.</span></span><span> </span></p></li><li><p><span><span>Providing architectural oversight.</span></span><span> </span></p></li><li><p><span><span>Balancing the demand for improvements and changes with available resources.</span></span><span> </span></p></li><li><p><span><span>Coordinating support teams to ensure resolution of Incidents and Service Requests per SLAs.</span></span><span> </span></p></li></ul><p><span> </span></p><p><b><span><span>Essential Skills/Experience</span></span><span> </span></b></p><p><span><span>• </span><span>Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Business</span><span>, or equivalent experience </span><span>required</span></span><span> </span></p><p><span><span>• Minimum of 5 - 10 years of experience with Salesforce.com, Veeva CRM, and Veeva Vault Platform and their functions, related data sets, integration </span><span>methodology</span><span>, and support approaches.
