ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for a deeply technical Staff Firmware Engineer who lives at the lowest levels of the stack from bootloaders, device drivers, board bring-up and cross-domain bugs that span hardware, firmware, and software. You'll own embedded firmware end-to-end across systems that fly, drive, and dive (Menace, Dive-XL, Ghost, Roadrunner), working shoulder-to-shoulder with Electrical Engineering on some of the hardest problems our customers face.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Architect and develop low-level firmware for microcontrollers; build reusable device drivers and system-level features for an ever-growing codebase
Take full ownership of embedded firmware projects from design through deployment
Debug and troubleshoot issues spanning the electrical/firmware/software boundary
Help select MCUs and peripherals and review schematics with EE
Mentor firmware engineers and shape engineering best practices
Concurrently drive multiple projects at various stages

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

BS or MS in CS/CE/EE or equivalent industry experience
Strong C coding ability for embedded systems
Experience integrating microcontrollers with analog and digital sensors
Experience developing firmware in bare-metal or RTOS environments
Solid understanding and application of coding best practices, board bring up and debugging
Some familiarity with common bus protocols such as USB, SPI, I2C, CAN, RS232, RS485, Ethernet, etc.
U.S. Persons status is required as this position needs to access export controlled data

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with one or more microcontroller cores (ARM, AVR, MSP430, PIC, etc.)
Debugging skills with JTAG, SWD, Oscilloscopes, and Logic analyzers
Have a bias for action. If you see a problem, you want to solve and fix it
Be naturally curious about the technologies and tools you use

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
