Job Title:

QA/QC Inspector - Electrical

Job Summary:

 

Performs QA/QC inspections of building systems, which could include Electrical, Mechanical, Fire & Life Safety, and/or Structural components to ensure quality standards and engineering specifications.  The building types and building equipment could include commercial, residential, and/or industrial.  May also perform various building assessment-type projects. Each inspection program may include client specific protocols as outlined by leadership team. This position requires extensive travel to client project sites.

Fire & Life Safety Inspector:

  • Conduct fire and life safety inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings to ensure construction aligns with approved plans.
  • Check installation and functionality of fire protection systems (sprinklers, clean agent, alarms, extinguishers).
  • Inspect fire-rated walls, doors, and assemblies for proper installation.
  • Identify fire hazards, code violations, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Re-inspect corrected work to confirm compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal fire codes, such as the NFPA and International Fire Code.
  • Witness testing fire protection systems in collaboration with contractors and fire officials.
  • Certify the building’s fire safety compliance.
  • Review construction and renovation plans to verify compliance with fire codes and life safety regulations.
  • Verify plans comply with applicable fire codes (e.g., NFPA, IFC, local ordinances).
  • Evaluate the adequacy of fire protection systems (e.g., sprinklers, alarms, standpipes).
  • Check for compliance with occupancy classifications and egress requirements.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to address fire safety concerns.
  • Assist in developing and updating fire and life safety policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Stay informed about changes in fire codes and industry best practices.
  • Promote fire prevention awareness
