A Brief Overview
Manages the operational, personnel and financial aspects of the Trauma Program. Ensures coordination of services and systems necessary for a multidisciplinary approach to the care of the injured patient. Responsible for ensuring, along with other members of trauma leadership team, the ongoing maintenance and compliance necessary to maintain verification as a Level II Trauma Center, including preparations for and execution of successful American College of Surgeons Trauma verification visits. The Trauma Program Manager serves as an internal, regional, and community resource through leadership and expertise in the treatment and prevention of injury.

Education Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN). Meets educational preparation or other qualifications within specified time frames as determined/outlined by Department Director. Required

Experience Qualifications

• 3 years Experience in clinical trauma care. Required

Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of the most current ACS standards related to “Resources for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient.” (Required proficiency)
• Experience with public speaking and/or teaching, individually or in groups and ability to utilize basic audiovisual equipment with ease. (Required proficiency)
• Experience in community organizing, media relations, public health and/or injury prevention. (Required proficiency)
• Good organizational skills and the ability to coordinate/delegate multiple work assignments simultaneously, set priorities and accomplish a wide variety of tasks. (Required proficiency)
• Direct experience with performance improvement, quality management and standards compliance. (Required proficiency)
• Knowledge of the administrative, professional and clinical organization of Stormont-Vail Health. (Preferred proficiency)

Licenses and Certifications

• Registered Nurse - KSBN Required
• Basic Life Support - BLS Required within 90 days.
• Board certification in one or more of the listed below is required: Board Certified Trauma Registered Nurse (TCRN), Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), Certified Pediatric, Emergency Nurse (CPEN), Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) OR Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE-A or SANE-P)
• Trauma Nursing Core Course - TNCC Required
• Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course - ENPC Required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support - ACLS Required within 90 days.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support - PALS Required within 90 days.
• Advanced Trauma Life Support - ATLS Preferred

What you will do

• Demonstrate effective leadership of Trauma Program personnel: • Responsible for recruitment, hiring, onboarding/orientation, corrective actions and performance appraisals. • Monitor and support staff professional development, education, and competency needs, as well as mandatory in-service/licensures/certifications and enforces applicable policies related to completion of requirements. • Foster a positive, professional environment in which staff contributes to decision making, performance at maximum potential, and staff retention. • Provides for effective problem resolution/process improvement.
• Provide direction and supervision to the Trauma Registry, ensuring: • Data abstraction provides accurate, detailed, reliable and readily accessible trauma. • Trauma data submission to both Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the National Trauma Databank as required.
• Direct the the work of the PI (RN) Coordinators in their data management and Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) process, including: • Case identification and review, interdepartmental education, orientation, policy/procedure review and development, research, and community outreach. • Advancement of the PI Program through planning, organizing, development, and evaluation of its activities, together with the Trauma Program Director and the Trauma Medical Director. • Coordination of a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach to trauma care with utilization of trauma protocols, and identification and resolution of quality-of-care issues.
• Oversee the design and implementation of regional trauma outreach, including: • Unintentional and intentional injury prevention programs and initiatives. • Professional trauma education for internal healthcare providers, including trauma-specific components of orientation and ongoing education. • Outreach and education for regional hea
