Background Screening Is Required

The State Child Fatality Data Analyst is located in the Office of Quality and Innovation (OQI) at the Florida Department of Children and Families (Department). OQI is responsible for building a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the Department by supporting programs in leveraging quality improvement tools and methodologies that help to ensure efficient and effective operations. This is a highly responsible position that provides technical assistance to Regional Child Fatality Prevention Specialists who are responsible for coordinating fatality review activities within the Department and in coordination with external partners. This position has technical duties and responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:

 

  1. Coordinates with the Regional Child Fatality Prevention Specialists to ensure that the Statewide Child Death Database is up-to-date with current information, that Child Fatality Summary reports are completed in a timely and qualitative manner, and that all Child Fatality Summary reports are forwarded to legal for redaction purposes before being posted to the website.
  2. Maintains a tracking system to ensure that fatality cases are being provided to the Department of Health through their MoveIt system for the local Child Abuse Death Review (CADR) committees.
  3. Completes special projects as requested from the State Child Fatality Prevention / CIRRT Manager in addition to collecting and analyzing data and information regarding child fatalities associated with Critical Incident Rapid Response Teams reports. Provides a presentation with regards to findings in both local and state-wide venues.
  4. Conducts special reviews and prepares written reports at the request of the Assistant Secretary for the Office of Quality and Innovation or the Secretary of the Department.  Collects and analyzes data and information regarding child fatalities associated with Critical Incident Rapid Response Team(CIRRT) reports. Provides a presentation with regards to findings in both local and state-wide venues.
  5. Assists with delivery of trainings and provide technical assistance to regional staff when needed or requested.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Florida’s child protection programs along with related Florida Statutes, Administrative Code and Operating Procedures, with specific subject-matter experience related to child fatalities and trend analysis.
  • Knowledge of compiling, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Ability to evaluate the quality of service to clients and evaluate programs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
