Job Description
As Experian we see data as our life blood and having regular insights into our data as critical part of our well being. As a Data Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting our products and clients with performance reports that leverage unique Experian data elements and deliver real insights. We are looking for a data-driven individual who can support the product team with building products and solutions, and IT team with data model building and build reports that translate complex data into user-friendly outputs and thrives in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
The Senior Data Analyst’s primary responsibility is to be focused on data analytics, data acquisition and business performance, which includes preparing reports/dashboards, gathering and analyzing data, ad-hoc analyses of data and product acquisition projects and pro-active identification of actionable optimization opportunities.
The candidate will support the ECS teams by deeply understanding the data, permissions and structure. You will be responsible for building, maintaining, and innovating on data reports.
• Gather requirements and produce ad hoc and recurring reports for internal teams and/or external clients.
• Learn business perspective and product functionality and anticipate operational reporting and analytics needs.
• Work closely with product owners, engineers and data architects to define non-functional requirements.
• Assist business with KPI creation for baselining and subsequent monitoring of the established KPIs.
• Write and own SQL code to pull structured and semi-structured data from Aurora Postgres, Snowflake, S3, and/or other solutions.
• Utilize tools such as Alteryx and Snowflake to build tables/views to consolidate data
• Select and use various visualization methods to communicate the story within the data.
• Build reports and views with eye towards long term maintainability.
• Present and demo reports and gather feedback.
• Monitor behavior and performance of data vendor and customer systems over time.
• Support on-demand raw data requests with appropriate business justification.
• Collaborate with engineering to optimize reporting databases, find and fix cause of data anomalies, and support new and existing reports.
• Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets using statistical techniques.
• Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
• Locate and define new process improvement opportunities
• Identify and consult external data sources as appropriate.
• Help maintain and manage departmental document repository (data dictionary, data lineage, metric definitions) ensuring up-to-date versions and correct document storage.
Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience in Data Analyst or Business Data Analyst positions.
• A four-year degree. Preferably in Computer Science, Information Management, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related analytical field
• Comfortable with presenting data findings and demonstrating completed reports.
• Broad understanding of data modeling methodologies such as relational (logical, physical), star schema, etc.
• Skills and experience with data mining using SQL.
• Experience in creating meaningful and easy to understand data reports, leveraging a Tableau or other Data Visualization tools.
• Comfortable in the language of APIs including experience using JSON, Postman, reading swagger documentation and the general ability to work with other
