We are searching for a Customer Marketing Director to join our team located at our corporate headquarters in Lake Forest, IL. 

Responsibilities

Your Role:

The Customer Marketing Director is responsible for leading and implementing customer level annual strategic plans to drive growth through customer marketing events, shelf level assortment (distribution optimization), at-shelf promotions, and at-shelf pricing (every day and event) to drive year over year volume and share gains. You will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead, develop, and improve customer event analytics to optimize spending efficiency and brand share growth. 
  • Optimize portfolio spend against customer and product portfolio to drive optimal efficiency of trade spending through customer and product prioritization.
  • Manage Customer Marketing function interface with field sales organization.  
  • Provide direction, funding, and budgetary control to field sales managers in the implementation of promotional programs for retail customers. 
  • Act as key interface amongst sales, marketing, finance, supply chain and operations to deliver forecast accuracy and efficient utilization of production resources including adjustments to daily distribution and volume opportunities as communicated by field sales.  
  • Approve and monitor funding requests from field sales based on business plan and approved budget levels. 
  • Analyze and report conditions occurring within the marketplace using IRI or ACNielsen syndicated data and information sourced both internally and externally. 
  • Provide direction and answers to questions from Marketing, Finance or Supply Chain groups as it relates to the trade program and field sales issues.

Qualifications

We need you to have:

  • BA/BS degree in related field.
  • 10 + years of sales or marketing experience in Consumer Packaged Goods industry, preferably including trade management. 
  • Previous experience in P&L management, shopper marketing and developing consumer branding strategy. 
  • Proficient in MS Office, with high proficiency in Excel. 
  • Proficient in SAP. 
  • Must be team-oriented with the ability to work on high collaboration and performance teams. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills, and the ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization. 
  • Self-directed with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple accountabilities and multiple internal customers. 
  • Strategic ability to lead customer marketing role in developing and executing BU level strategy.   
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with high attention to detail. 
  • Solid project management capabilities with the ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously from origin through execution. 
  • Knowledge and application of syndicated data, as well as the ability to incorporate financial measures in assessing results. 
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures used in the consumer products industry. 
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule during key business deadlines. 
  • Ability to travel regularly on an overnight basis. 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
