Summary of Position

Bring your mastery of program evaluation, claims data, and analytics to the cutting-edge digital healthcare arena! We are looking for a leader in the data science function within our Value Based Care Analytics team. You will develop, refine, and apply novel methodologies to understand product performance based on cost and clinical outcomes and translate that information to support the successful delivery of value-based payment arrangements. You will help inform and influence the design of our analytics and data infrastructure to meet our team’s needs for today and tomorrow.

For ultimate success in this role, you’ll have a strong voice and perspective on how to scale our analytic capabilities, produce and deliver meaningful insights to our stakeholders, and lead a motivated team. We’re looking for a content matter expert in healthcare data and causal inference, a bridge-builder who can speak across a variety of functions throughout the organization, and someone who can both lead and contribute in different circumstances.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze medical claims, pharmacy claims, proprietary Teladoc Health data, and other sources to understand which programs work for which clients – and why

  • Serve as subject matter expert on causal inference and cost savings/ROI analyses that support value-based payment models

  • Lead and organize a team to advance multiple analyses simultaneously and learn together as new insights come to light

  • Create cost and utilization reporting and analytics, including analytics to provide early warning insights

  • Guide the development of automation tools and data pipelines that help us deliver quality output, reports, and insights on time for a multitude of requests

  • Engage with Technology/Engineering teams to communicate our business needs, influence upstream system/design, and articulate requirements and definitions

  • Evaluate new tools/technologies for optimized delivery

  • Lead our team’s strategic automation roadmap for scaling delivery of outputs and data exchange for clients under value-based payment models

  • Mentor team members to help them grow in their career and promote positive workplace

  • Build roadmaps and manage priorities for the team

Candidate Profile

  • 7+ years' experience in data science within healthcare industry, working with/for managed care organizations, hospital systems and integrated care systems, or similar

  • BS degree in Data Science, Engineering, or a related field. In lieu of degree, relevant work experience is acceptable.

  • Strong data analysis skills using R, SQL, Python and/or other statistical software packages

  • Ability to build a roadmap from a strategic vision and lead projects from scratch to implementation

  • Domain knowledge of program evaluation leveraging causal inference methods, medical and pharmacy claims data, cost and utilization metrics, and standard healthcare groupers

  • Experience with data engineering/ETL of claims data

  • Experience working in an Agile framework and engaging with cross-functional stakeholders

  • Experience with data visualization/BI, including testing and using platforms through 3rd party vendors

  • Strong critical thinking skills to infer business needs, grasp underlying context, and translate direction on analytical projects

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • The flexibility to respond to changing priorities and business environments

  • Ability to build, mentor and manage team to efficiently execute goals while helping team members learn and grow
