About the role

The Journalism department at Loyola Marymount University seeks to hire a uniquely identified candidate, Clinical Assistant Professor for a full-time, non-tenure-track teaching position. This is a term clinical faculty appointment with an initial term of up to two years. Continuation beyond the initial term, if any, will be determined based on institutional needs and applicable review processes.

LMU’s Journalism major has grown rapidly to become one of the most popular in LMU’s liberal arts college. The program’s curriculum offers lower-division courses in reporting, writing, and ethics and upper-division courses in investigative reporting, visual journalism, audio journalism, arts and culture reporting, representation in journalism and many other subjects. The Journalism Department is committed to providing students with integrative pedagogies, as well as training in the skills that will graduate students ready to work in professional journalism.

Experience in professional journalism is required. The teaching load is three courses per semester, including required introductory journalism classes for majors/minors and upper division electives.
